The Royal Mail postbox is taking centre stage this Christmas, with a set of festive stamps featuring traditional wintery scenes.
Available as presentation pack the 8 Christmas stamps are illustrated by artist Andrew Davidson and show the vibrant red postbox across the years, along with a poem from the postal museum.
“How doth the little Pillar-Box, At every corner stand, And gathers letter all the day from every sort of hand.” (anonymous Christmas card c.1860-90)
What’s more, at undisclosed locations in the UK’s capital cities of London, Cardiff, Edinburgh & Belfast, ‘posters’ will be able to hear the sound of sleigh bells, or a message from Santa, as special postboxes have sensors to trigger a festive greeting. Just look out snowflakes on the traditional red boxes…
