After a winter break and weeks of unseasonable weather across the UK, professional windsurfer Phil Horrocks, sponsored by The Mailing Room, is now back on the waves. He has updated his blog with his recent preparations and is excited to announce the provisional dates for the 2013 Windsurfing season.
So far this year, Phil he has battled with the hit and miss weather and weeks of minimal wind but with the 2013 season fast approaching, he has started to prepare his equipment and taking advantage of the recent windy weather on the North Wales coast.
“I’m just going through all my equipment ready for the season ahead. I need to get my order in as the start of UK contest season is fast approaching. It’s been a long old wait – there’s barely a day with wind for 6 or 7 weeks and then suddenly in the last week there’s 3 windy days in a row!”
Phil has taken advantage of the recent windy conditions and tried some new equipment, including The Pocket wave 75 “The Pocket wave 75 is an awesome board! I really liked it, pretty much a throw around wave board that gets you up and quickly, so it makes for some really fun sailing, I was surprised just how good it was, could be an all conditions board for my home spot I think!”
The provisional dates for the 2013 Windsurfing season have now been arranged as follows;
Round 1: Wales (Rhosneigr), 17-19th May 2013.
Round 2: Ireland (Brandon Bay), 20-24th May 2013.
Round 3: Tiree Wave Classic, Tiree, Scotland; 12-18th October 2013
Round 4: Cornwall Wave Classic, Cornwall, England 25-27th October 2013.
George Bevan, Managing Director for the Mailing Room commented “Phil is an incredible talent and we are very proud to sponsor him. The Mailing Room team wish Phil the best of luck with his preparations for the next Windsurfing season.”
