Optical Mark Reading
Optical Mark Reading (OMR) system uses printed marks to automatically identify document sequence and size.
This enables, for example, the processing of personalized mailings, flexible control of various supplements or exclusion of duplicate copies. Reverse OMR handling is also possible.
OMR can be used on the larger desk top folders and inserters to decide which inserts go in particular envelopes.
OMR is used by folder inserter equipment to help determine how a document is to be handled by the inserting system. An OMR device is able to read a simple mark (usually a dash) in a set position on a piece of paper. It uses the presence or absence of the mark to make a decision about how to handle the document.
