Apps are a part of our everyday lives now. It doesn’t surprise us when we check out an app and it’s had millions of downloads because it seems like we now rely on them for a quick service when we’re on the go. Plenty of people have careers where they are out and about or they need a quick solution to a problem that they’ve been faced with.
Apps definitely rescue us if we’ve forgotten an important work document or if we need to be reminded of something. Here are 5 useful apps for business that can be of use every day.

Buffer logo

Buffer is a brilliant app which helps you post on social media wherever you are. Choosing different profiles and posting times, you can be more organised with networking on the web. By signing in with one log in, you can access multiple profiles which is extremely useful if you look after different clients on a day to day basis.
It’s a great app because you can keep an eye on your scheduled posts and swap them around or change the times based on where people are located. It’s simple and easy. It could do with a few more social media platforms adding, such as Pinterest and Instagram, however if you want the basic 3 platforms, this app is for you. If you want to change the different types of link shorteners, you have the option and Buffer will also display analytics and offer content for you in a range of topics to share if you’ve ran out of ideas. There is the “Awesome plan” which gives you the full service, such as adding RSS feeds to your profiles.

Uber has come onto the scene as a taxi service with a difference. This app allows you to order a taxi and pay for it with a click of a button. All you need to do is sign up with your username and card details and you receive your first taxi ride for free. This is an excellent app not only for how quick it is but also for how it gives you very precise locations of each taxi on its way to you. We think it’s really useful for businesses that may require different employees to visit locations for client meetings. There is nothing worse than needing cash for a taxi when you don’t have any spare. This way, you can have the taxi prepaid for the client and the employer can keep track of the employee’s travel safety and the costs. If you wanted to, you could pay extra for a more expensive taxi which would impress clients if you ordered one for them on the way to your office. At the end of the day, Uber cuts out the messing around when you want to organise travel.

Expensify is a great, fairly new app that is based around, you guessed it, expenses. Gone are the days you have to keep all your receipts in a messy folder that if lost, could lose you money. This app makes business spending a lot easier and it takes out the boredom of going through them. You are able to upload receipts, add/invite employees, add bank cards and set up different policies for the account itself. All saved and going nowhere, you are then able to look through reports based on whatever time frame you want to compare the spending. Available in different packages starting from $5, you can still spend in British Pounds and decide which package is for you whilst testing a free trial. Bills and invoices are made much easier this way too and if you are in charge of money in your business, this app is one you must download and try out.

Dropbox is an app that many people will have heard of by now. Used as a file sharing platform, it makes a brilliant back up for important files and also keeps everything all in one place if you wanted to work away from your office. When you sign up for free, the basic package gives generous storage of 2gb which is perfect if you need to keep a few very important documents. Not only does it safely store documents, but once downloaded, a folder will appear on your computer which updates all files you have altered from different platforms signed into your account. The Business account starts at a small £11 per month available for 5 different users, perfect for small businesses. If you want to step it up a notch for a larger business, that’s entirely up to you. That package will offer as much space you need for files, presentations or moving image files, live support, unlimited file recovery and much more which, for that price, is a pretty good deal.

Amazon was originally a website to purchase books which then expanded to different products. Now, in 2014, you can buy pretty much anything from printers, tablets to a new tie. The app was an obvious step forward for Amazon, making purchasing not just being from a desk but also on your phone during a commute or during a lunch break if you remembered you needed to buy something. Due to being able to purchase items on the go and add to your basket or select a one-click buy, it makes the app very reliable when it automatically processes orders and then tracks them.

Amazon introduced ‘Prime’ which a service which you can try for a free 30 day trial or buy for £79 a year. This includes access to unlimited free one day delivery, unlimited streaming of movies and TV on Prime instant video, just to name a few reasons to purchase the service. This app is ideal for a business and if you wanted to, you can create a company account to order those important office supplies so you never have to deal with running out of paper or ink. Keeping track of past orders, it makes it simple to add to your receipts and invoices.
